We
knew we would see no end to memory expansion and storage device size reduction,
so the arriving of this Kingston 1TB flash drive isn’t really a shocker as it
is aweinspiring. Called the DataTraveler HyperX Predator (for I don’t know what
good reason), the USB 3.0 stick will pack all you need to carry along on a
trip, and more! Currently, the same device ships in its 512GB variant, which is
commendable enough. As soon as the 1TB version hits shelves, we expect to see
more such wonders from the house of Transcend and Scandisk.
It
is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7 with SP1, Windows Vista with SP1 or
SP2, Windows XP with SP3, Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, and Linux 2.6 or higher. The
HyperX Predator offers transfer speeds of up to 240MBps for reads and 160MBps
for write.
The DataTraveler HyperX Predator is
expected to ship this quarter. The zinc alloy casing looks palatable and the
five year warranty makes it better than most 500GB hard drives around. The
512GB model sells for $1,750, so we can expect this one to easily cross a
couple of grands.
