MERGE AND CONTROL ALL YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNTS WITH JUST ONE GMAIL ACCOUNT

It’s no news that the search engine giants Google blazes the trail when it comes to reinventing and creating new and better ways to use the web.

Another great feature of your Google account (Gmail) that you may not have found out is that you can send and receive all your emails with just one Gmail account.

No need to login here and logout there just to send emails from different emails providers (e.g Yahoo, Hotmail e.t.c.) anymore.
You can do it all right there in your Gmail account.
This is what I mean; login to your Gmail and send a mail as username@yahoo.com or any other email.

Let me show you how in just 10 steps.

Please ensure you are connected to the Internet, open your Gmail in a new tab of your browser then follow the step-by-step guide to make it easier.

  1. Login to your Gmail.
If you don’t have a Gmail account, go to www.gmail.com to create one.
  2. After you are logged in, go to the settings pane  on the top right path of your screen.
    Select “Settings”.
Ensure you are using a computer and not a mobile phone.
  3. At the top, click on “Accounts and Import”.
  4. Next, look down till you see a section called “Send mail as”.
  5. Click on the option “Add another email address you own”.
This would open a new window (called a pop up window).

    NB:
If a new window does not pop up, then you have to allow pop ups for www.gmail.com.
You change this from the setting of your browser.
if you cannot change the setting, simply go to a different browser or search online to find out how.
  6. Fill in your name and the email address you want to use (e.g yourname@msn.com).
Un-tick the option “Treat as an alias”.

    Click the “Next Step” button
     .

  7. After clicking the “Next Step” button, a new page titled “Add another email address you own” appears.

Choose the option “Send through email.com SMTP servers”.
The value “email.com” depends on the domain name of the email address you want to add (e.g yahoo.com, hotmail, e.t.c)
  8.  Now this seems like the tricky part but don’t worry, it is pretty easy.

For the field “SMTP server”, there are two possible options:
    i.     smtp.email.com (Preferred)
    ii.    mail.email.com

For the filed “Username”, there are two possible options:
    i.     Type in your username only. (Preferred)
Example: john@example.com; the username is “john”.

ii.     Type in your full email address.
    Example: yourname@email.com.

For “Port”,  it is best to leave it at the default value.
    If 587 doesn’t work, use 25 instead.

For the field “Password”, type in the password of the specified email.

Then click on the “Add Account” button
    .

NB: Leave every other option as is.
  9. A confirmation code will be sent to your other email address.
Check the email, copy and paste the confirmation code.
    And you are done.

  10. When you compose new emails, the “From” option will have two email addresses.
